french architect patrick partouche has recently completed 'maison container lille', a single family residence created from
eight shipping containers within the countryside of lille, france. the stacked units combine to generate 208 square meters of living space
which overlook a field with cows through a facade of glazed panels. the original doors on the ground and upper level may be opened
or closed from the outside for privacy or to protect from direct sunlight. resting upon reinforced concrete foundations,
the dwelling was installed within three days on-site. the maritime containers were transported by truck and placed during construciton
with a crane.

house in marseille, france built with 15 recycled shipping containers. the recently
completed residence is built into a cliff facing the port of the seaside city.

Nous avons décidé il y a quelques temps de construire notre maison. Rien de plus banal en temps de crise tant financière qu'environnementale. Après discussions et vu l'environnement (nous sommes face au port autonome de Marseille, plein sud) une solution aussi étrange qu'économique s'imposa : "Et si on construisait sur la base de conteneurs ! ". Une précision, elle est architecte, il est comédien tchatcheur ! Passionnés tout les deux d'urbanisme, de mémoire des lieux et de petites histoires humaines.
Ce blog est consacré à la construction pratique et inventive de "notre maison conteneur" aux portes de l'Estaque, à  Mourepiane.
