It’s been a while since I’ve seen anything new in the world of small wind, but I recently noticed that Bornay turbines from Spain are now distributed in the United States. The company has several models, including two-blade models rated at 600 watts, 1500 watts, and 3000 watts, and a three-blade model rated at 6000 watts. The Bornay 1500, for example, is about a nine-foot turbine that weighs 90 pounds and cuts in at winds of six mph. The 1500-watt kit is sold for $20,000 by Electrex Industrial Services.

Two story container house in El Tiemblo
This two story container house consists of four 40' High Cube shipping containers assembled in L-shape structure. There are living room, kitchen, bathroom and area for visitors (with a small living room and two bedrooms for guests) on the ground floor and study, bathroom and master bedroom on the second floor.
The location of the site is above an altitude of 1,100 meters, so it is a cold place in winter and ecological biomass heating system is used for heating. The main facade oriented toward the south on the stunning views of the valley and nearby mountain while receiving direct rays of the sun in winter to heat the main exterior facade. Two trees located near southern wall, so sun radiation is gradually absorbed by the vegetation, which creates an outer green skin to protect the house from heat in summer. The organization of doors and windows allows a refreshing natural ventilation. The inner enclosure is made of cellulose fiber insulation from recycled newsprint and cork in some places. The house achieves a 70% (measured by weight) of recycled and reused components. Taps and sanitary equipment have low water consumption.
The construction system operates on a modular design, with some prefab details to reduce transport costs and pollution on site. The modular system suggests the full realization of the house integrating possible rapid and consistent space expansion in case the client needs change over time.

576 square foot two bedroom house plans
I love small efficient homes, and I design some too. One of my favorites is the smallest version of my "Muir Series" home designs. At 576 square feet (24'-0" x 24'-0") it is suitable in many areas as a full-time stand-alone residence, a vacation home, or a backyard building that can be used as a guest house, in-law apartment, or rental property. The 24' x 24' dimensions were derived from a series of buildings sold through the Home Depot in the northeastern US by Sheds USA. At one point I designed living spaces to fit into every single size and model they sold (16 designs). I am posting an isometric drawing and floor plan below. This and other designs may some day be available to buy on my "Small Home Plans" page above.
The concept behind this house is basically this; keep it simple and inexpensive to build. Keeping the size small and the details few helps keep costs low. With nine windows, two optional skylights, one exterior door, seven interior doors including four bifolds, apartment sized appliances, and just what you need in terms of counters, cabinets, and plumbing, all sitting on a simple slab foundation, there isn't really that much to to waste money on. In fact, because of the small square footage and simple design, anyone building this may be able to afford better quality roofing, siding, windows, doors, cabinets, finishes and furnishings than they could if it were larger or more complicated.
You might notice that there is no apparent mechanical room (no obvious space for furnace and water heater). That's because this place is intended to be heated with electric heat to keep initial investment costs low. A small electric water heater could fit in either the attic, the bathroom vanity, or one of the kitchen base cabinets. Alternatively, a tankless water heater could be mounted on the exterior wall above the toilet.
Although electric heat is cheap to install, it can be expensive to run. For that reason, I'd suggest four inches of rigid insulation under the slab if you build in a cold environment, and insulating beyond code requirements for the exterior walls and ceiling.

The containers are insulated with recycled thermal insulation with roof layer above the home to prevent the transmission of heat into the habitable areas.
